Troubleshooting Guide for Educators

Problem: iPad battery keeps draining quickly

  1.  Check the battery usage by going to Settings, then Battery.  Look to see what apps are being used and delete any that are using up the battery power.   Apps are deleted by going to the home screen and finding the app that should be deleted.  Hold the app down until the menu appears and click on the Remove App option.  Click Delete App on the next menu and then Delete when asked if you want to delete the app and its data.

  2. Check what apps are being used behind the scenes by going to Settings, General and then Background App Refresh.   One option is to click on the Background App Refresh and click on the Off option.  If the Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi & Cellular Data options are clicked, turn off any apps that don’t need to have refreshed in the background by clicking on the button so it is gray.

  3. Update the iPad by going to Settings, General and Software Update.  Click Download and Install any updates available.

  4. Reduce the screen brightness by going to Settings then Display and Brightness.  Under the Appearance option, click Dark.

  5. Put the iPad into Auto-lock by going to Settings, Displays & Brightness and click on Auto-lock.  Select the number of minutes that will allow the iPad to stay on (Never should not be clicked as the iPad will not go if left on).

  6. Restart your iPad by pressing and holding down the volume button and the top button (or hold down the top button if there is a home button), drag on the slider that says turn iPad off.  Wait 30 seconds and then hold the top button to restart the iPad.

  7. If the problem persists, contact the HelpDesk.

  2. Check the platform to make sure that it is clean and clean if there are any things on it (check manual to see what to use to clean it)

  3. Check the marker’s battery to make sure that it is working (if it uses a battery)

  4. Restart your Smartboard with the markers on their platform
