Mid-way Reflection of EDU 777

Teaching full time and taking classes can be challenging.  There are times when it is tough to get the readings done or have enough mental focus to write up a response to someone’s post. But taking a class when teaching can be very rewarding.  When I first started my idea about incorporating digital citizenship into my school it seemed very relevant and I was very motivated from the beginning of school year energy.  There is so much I want to accomplish and I'm really excited about the new projects for my classroom.  But then as the year goes on, I get tired for a variety of reasons both in and outside the classroom.  I still believe in the positives of adding digital citizenship into the school culture but I am feeling all of the tiredness that comes from being in school for the last few months.  I am worried about the potential of this actually being implemented into the classroom and if it will just become a thing that I do with the Instructional Technology Specialist in our little silo of curriculum.

I love my job a lot and taking these classes continues to help me keep my focus on what I am doing right.  What I am doing right is way more often than I give myself credit for.  When I completed the TPACK assignment, it was a great visual to see how I am really taking some great aspects of each aspect and creating an engaging project for all of the students in my room.  When I did a quick survey of the projects I am currently doing, all of my lessons would highlight the best practices in each of the categories.  The discussions have helped provide me additional technology resources that I can bring into the classroom that help enhance and add more student choice for the project.  I am adding and doing relevant activities for students to create lifelong learners and this class has helped to add ways to enhance my teaching.
